Hi, the month of September is one of the most
special time in Chile, because of “Fiestas Patrias”, a date to celebrate the
first “junta de gobierno” in 1810, where
people of the time was trying to break away from the Spanish monarchy. The real
independence of Chile occurred in 1818, but in our country we celebrate the September
18th, for being the first attempt of the Chilean people to be an independent
nation.
In the
current era, the Chilean people celebrate this date with a lot of enthusiasm,
and of course, a lot of typical food, beverages, games and dances from each
zone of Chile. For example in the north of Chile, the people has their own
traditions, meanwhile in the south of this country, the typical things are very
different. But that is one of the most beauty things of Chile, the diversity of
his own people. Where I come from, Rancagua, I like to go to the “fondas” a big
place with a lot of different stalls, where you can go to dance “cueca” and “cumbia”,
and at the same time, eat some “anticuchos”, a billet meat served in an iron,
or some “empanadas”, a dough with meat, onion and olives.
I recommend to all the foreign people to come
to celebrate “Fiestas Patrias”, one date where the people has the idea of
celebrate for three or four days, or even sometimes a week of celebrations. “Tikitikiti”
